Description

The concept behind this had already been planned way before this day or year, the first time i portrayed the turtle city was here

as you can see i completely forgot about the horn like thing on her head

here's a copy paste from that image, regarding the story behind it

"short version story
the turtle is the last from an ancient civilization of gigantic turtles, it has been enslaved and humans built a city on its back and also below the shell
they control the turtle with a system of chains that are nailed to her neck
when she submerges the city folks all go underneath the shell were they all live its almost as if the outer city is mainly for merchants and so on "

as i said before, the sailing mechanism is done by chains nailed to the turtles' neck and the sailing is done underneath the shell. Whenever the turtle has to submerge , say to avoid cannon balls, the whole population of the city goes underneath the shell, which is hollow to allow for the people to move freely, it's not fully waterproof otherwise people would die there, but it lets very few water in.
Some ships can actually dock to the city above the shell, to do so the turtle submerges at a certain level for a very small amount of time, but sufficient enough to load ships or unload.

i think this is it

top concept shows the city underneath making an xray vision of the shell
secon shows the outser shell and city

this and final, birds eye view of the city and belly

the turtle anatomy here was twisted so it wouldn look actually like a turtle but more like a human in terms of anatomy, this all has its purpose, considering it's not really a true turtle but from an ancient race of super turtles :XD:

~cheers, comments and crits are welcome ;)

Dramatic improvements and I love how you did different angles and some see through shots.

You will read more on my earlier comment sent to the original post.

One more time, best of luck on your book.

BTW National geographic shows some prehistoric "super turtles" significantly bigger than any turtle currently on the plane of existence. Looks a lot like a sea turtle just much, much bigger.
